This week we’ve been driving the 2024 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid FWD. Okay, you may be wondering, “Didn’t RPM News Weekly just cover that pickup…?” Well, sort of. Just a couple months ago (in another season), we did test drive the 2023 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid. You can click here to check out our report and video.
Turns out, not much has changed for the 2024 Maverick XLT Hybrid – it’s just packaged a bit differently.
Most notably, the hybrid powertrain is no longer standard equipment. It’s a $1500 option. The 2.0-liter gasoline engine is standard now.
Also, our brand new 2024 test model came with a hard, drop-in bed liner versus a spray-on one, and there’s now a 400-watt converter on the bed side wall. Both items, instead of being one-off options, have been added to the optional Luxury Package along with remote start and a trailer hitch receiver.
The hybrid powertrain is still our preference. Over five years of ownership, the hybrid will more than pay for its extra cost in the fuel savings you’ll realize, plus you’ll be reducing CO2 tailpipe emissions by 30 percent.
